FCA is one of Finland's biggest development cooperation organisations.
The goal of development cooperation is the empowerment of communities, so their members can help themselves and influence the surrounding society. We want to reduce poverty in a sustainable way. The UN Millennium Goals and the objectives of Finland's official development policy provide the framework for our work.
Through community development work together with local communities, we help the poorest and most vulnerable people to improve their living conditions. This work is aims to make life more secure, to support human dignity and self-respect, and to create a fairer society where everyone has a secure source of livelihood.
FCA's work focuses on securing life's basic necessities like food security and water, and on improving people's opportunities to make a living for themselves.
Health, education, equality and environmental issues are cross-cutting themes in FCA's projects.
The projects are supported by both fundraising and state funding. The support is channeled through the cooperation networks of the international churches.
